Could robots take over the world? Asked in 2004 article in Popular Science.
For now, though, these matters remain purely academic, as reality lags far behind science fiction. Today’s smartest robots hardly approach the intelligence of our pets. “We can’t even build a machine as smart as a dog,” MIT Media Lab’s Rosalind Picard says. “I don’t think this is something we need to be afraid of anytime soon. Besides,” she adds, “we can always just pull the plug.”
If it was only as easy as pulling the plug my naive little friend. If it was only that easy.

Yeah! You can't pull a plug when they are solar powered . . . then the only choice is to black out the sky . . . of course robots are pretty wily and they might find another power source . . . like living things, as batteries . . . dear God humans as batteries! Wait wasn't this in a movie?
